Breaking news: Intersex people don’t exist!
Or, at least, according to Montana (Republican) State Senator Carl Glimm they don’t.
This bill seeks to strictly define sex and gender under Montana law, erasing the existence and rights of transgender, non-binary, and intersex people in the state.
Specifically, Glimm states that “rare disorders of sexual development are not exceptions to the binary nature of sex.” He defines “male” and “female” solely based on capacity to produce sperm and eggs.
In Montana’s law on “Prohibited marriages,” which is still on the books (!), it also makes it clear that when it says that same-sex marriages are prohibited, same-sex is defined using Glimm’s lovely definition of sex.
