If this bill in Maine passes, parents will need to provide written permission to schools so that their son can go by “Billy” instead of “William.”
It was introduced by State Rep. Sheila Lyman (R) on March 11, and it currently sits in the Committee on Judiciary.
Naturally, this is another attack on transgender students, which would prohibit any form of social transition in Maine public schools without parental support.
